Delays 'likely' on major route due to roadworks

Lawrence Hill will be closed from 8pm on Friday 6 February to 6am on Monday 9 February.

City residents have been warned to expect weekend disruption as a busy route is set to close for roadworks.

Lawrence Hill in east Bristol will be closed from 20:00 GMT on Friday 6 February to 06:00 on Monday 9 February.

Network Rail has organised the closure between Croydon Street and Sarah Street to carry out essential repairs to a railway bridge.

Bristol City Council said diversions will be in place.

The area will still have access for pedestrians and cyclists over the weekend.

Great Western Railway has said services to and from Bristol Temple Meads will not be affected.

Lawrence Hill connects the city centre to St George, Kingswood and Hanham.

Roads such as Two Mile Hill Road, Bell Hill , Clouds Hill Road and Lawrence Hill roundabout are unaffected.
