The family of a man whose death outside a cocktail bar at a seaside resort has sparked a murder investigation have said they are "utterly heartbroken".

Dorset Police said officers were called to reports of an assault outside MyBar in Charminster Road, Bournemouth, at about 03:00 BST on Monday.

James Blanch, 41, of Christchurch, Dorset, was pronounced dead at the scene. Dorset Police have arrested three men on suspicion of murder.

In a tribute released by Blanch's family, the father-of-two was described as the "most incredible, lovable human that lit up any room with his massive smile".

James has a light brown beard and wears a yellow cap and t-shirt.

The statement, signed by Leanne, Ronnie and Blossom, said he was an "incredible father" whose children were "heartbroken beyond belief".

"My James was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend," it said.

"He was the most loyal person who would do anything for anyone.

"James would just make everything better and always tell you that 'it's going to be alright'.

"Everything he did was for his two children who he loved more than anything in the world.

"I am forever grateful for our 18 years together and I will continue to make you proud with our two children... we love you James, Daddy, today, tomorrow and forever."

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with any relevant dashcam footage to come forward.

Det Ch Insp Nicky Jenkins, of Dorset Police's Major Crime Investigation Team, previously said officers were expected to remain in the area over the coming days "while vital work at the scene is carried out".
