Elmbridge announced plans to move away from day centres to community hubs in July

Some community centre and library hubs in Surrey are to see temporary closures in February due to staff shortages, a council has said.

Elmbridge Borough Council said it would have "reduced food offerings" at certain centres on some days.

The closures affect Weybridge Library Hub and centres at Walton, Molesey, Cobham, Claygate and Hersham.

A council spokesperson said: "We apologise for any inconvenience the temporary closures may cause."

The council is advising residents affected to use other community hubs in the area on days their local one is closed.

Community transport users will be taken to an alternative centre, the council said.

Dementia services in Claygate will not be affected.

The changes begin on Wednesday when council-run community services at Weybridge Library Hub will close at 13:00 BST, while the rest of the building will remain open.

Walton and Molesey centres will be closed on Thursday, while Cobham Centre for the Community will be closed on Monday, 9 February.
