Police are returning to the scene of a suspected hit-and-run in Dungiven, County Londonderry, in which a 69-year-old was killed.

Patrick Flanagan, a well-known retired teacher from Derry, died after he was found with serious injuries on the Foreglen Road, between Claudy and Dungiven, in the early hours of 2 November 2025.

He later died in hospital.

Police said they continued to investigate the circumstances around his death and said diversions would be in place on the Foreglen Road on Monday night as officers revisit the scene.

"We are continuing to investigate the circumstances of this incident and we believe at this time that the deceased, Patrick Flanagan, was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run road traffic collision," Det Insp Connolly said.

Police said investigating officers would carry out scene tests, adding as well as diversions being put in place, residents will be accommodated.
