Puzzlers get piece of the action at jigsaw festival

A jigsaw festival that attracted hundreds of puzzle fans has returned for a second year.

The Norfolk Jigsaw Festival is at Sharrington Village Hall from 10:00 BST to 16:00 on Saturday and Sunday.

Dissectologists - the term for someone passionate about jigsaws - will find a "massive selection" of new, used and collectable puzzles on sale, and can test their skills in timed competitions.

"To sit down and do a jigsaw is quite relaxing and a lot of people now are finding, with the pace of life and technology beeping at you all the time, it is quite nice to sit down and do a jigsaw," said Annie Abrams, one of the organisers.

The festival was launched in 2024 to raise money for the village hall.

And there have been some pain-staking preparations for the 2025 event.

Ms Abrams, said: "They [the jigsaws] have all been checked.

"A lot of people find it frustrating when they buy a used jigsaw and there's a bit missing.

"I think it maybe arose with Covid.

"We were all stuck indoors trying to think of things to do which were a bit different and it has proven to be something which is good for your manual dexterity, your memory, concentration and - certainly for me - it is a stress reliever.

"Unless I have a missing piece of course."

The Norfolk Jigsaw Festival is at the village hall in The Street, Sharrington, Melton Constable, NR24 2AB.
