A man has been arrested after a 17-year-old boy was raped in St Leonards, police have said.

Sussex Police said the teenager was approached by a man at a bus stop near Asda in Battle Road, at about 23:30 GMT on Friday.

It was reported that the suspect and the teenager had walked in the direction of Lidl in Bohemia Road, before the boy was raped at an address.

Officers said a 38-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of rape and was being held in custody.

Det Insp Carol Shoesmith said it was an "evolving investigation" and specialist officers were supporting the victim.

She said police were not seeking anyone else in connection with the incident.

Shoesmith thanked people who had shared appeals and provided information and urged any other people with information to contact the force.
