Council says no long stays in emergency accommodation
BCP CouncilA council has said it had reached an "important milestone" in dealing with homelessness, as no local family has used its emergency accommodation for longer than six weeks.
BCP Council said the figures reflected the efforts of its housing teams and their partners "who work tirelessly to keep families together in safe, stable homes".
Its early prevention team has worked with 1,500 households in the last year to provide practical help, from negotiating with landlords to offering financial advice.
Kieron Wilson, cabinet member for housing and regulatory services, said: "This progress is a testament to our continued dedication to helping families find stability when they need it most."
He added: "Every family deserves the security of a home, and while we're proud of this progress, we know the work doesn't stop here.
"We'll continue to focus on prevention and partnership to make sure fewer people face homelessness."
The council is currently running a homelessness strategy consultation.
