Arrest after woman injured in knife attack

A woman has sustained injuries to her face and hands after she was attacked by a man with a knife at a house in Londonderry.

It happened in the Derrymore area of the city on Saturday afternoon and was reported to police shortly before 15:30 GMT.

A man in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and common assault.

He was also detained on suspicion of possessing of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence and remains in custody.
