A man and a woman have escaped injury in an arson attack on a house in Londonderry.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said a suspected petrol bomb was thrown through the window of the property at Circular Road in Creggan at around 18:45 GMT on Monday.

The two people inside put out a fire in the living room and were not hurt, but police said were left badly shaken.

Damage was caused to a window and the floor, and detectives have appealed for anyone who saw a green saloon car or three men on foot in the area at the time to come forward.
