Five people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 20-year-old man was fatally stabbed in Huddersfield.

West Yorkshire Police said the incident happened in Greenwood Street, in the Primrose Hill area, shortly before 16:15 GMT on Tuesday.

The force said the victim was found in the street with serious injuries and taken to hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later.

Five men, aged between 48 and 61, have been arrested in connection with his death.

Det Ch Insp Stacey Atkinson said "reassurance patrols" would be conducted in the surrounding area on Wednesday.

She added: "We are appealing for footage, witnesses and information and would like to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the Greenwood Street or Orchard Street areas during Tuesday afternoon.

"Our team would also like to speak with anyone who has seen or has information about suspicious activity or disturbances in Orchard Street and Greenwood Street over the past few days."
