A 31-year-old man has died after being hit by a car in a North Yorkshire market town, police have said.

Benjamin Robinson was struck by a red Range Rover on Railway Street in Leyburn on 28 November at about 22:10 GMT.

Mr Robinson, from Leyburn, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and North Yorkshire Police said he has since died.

A woman in her 70s who was arrested in connection with the crash has been released under investigation, a force spokesperson added.

The incident took place by the A684 Harmby Road junction with Yoredale Way and officers have asked witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to get in touch.
