Watch: 'Wannabe boy racer' banned from the roads
A man described by police as a "wannabe boy racer" has been sentenced for driving dangerously.
Morgan Lane, 19, of Hinkler Road, Southampton, was captured on CCTV nearly crashing into pedestrians and other cars while trying to drift on Weston Parade in Southampton on the 19 and 20 May 2025.
He has been banned from driving for a year, ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and given a sentence of six weeks imprisonment, suspended for a year.
PC Rebecca Starks said: "We will not tolerate people turning our roads into race tracks."
She added: "On both days the area was busy with other motorists, joggers, cyclists, dog walkers, and pedestrians – including many children.
"To put their lives at risk for the sake of showing off is absolutely inexcusable. The road is a 20mph limit, but this wannabe boy racer was well above that at times.
"You may think you're Lewis Hamilton, but you're not.
"All it takes is one tiny mistake, one slip on the pedal, and someone could be killed."
