Boys, 12 and 14, arrested over machete attack

A 12-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after two teenagers were attacked with a machete outside a Birmingham shop.

Two boys, aged 14 and 15, were taken to hospital - one with life-changing injuries -while a third 15-year-old was punched on Stratford Road in Shirley on Saturday night, West Midlands Police confirmed.

A 14-year-old boy who was previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and has since been bailed pending further inquiries.

Officers were called to the scene at about 21:00 GMT and have said it is believed to be a targeted attack, but have increased patrols in the area to reassure the community.

Witnesses or anyone with dashcam or mobile phone footage connected to the attack have been urged to contact the force.
