Police in Devon are investigating claims more than 100 packages were not delivered by a courier working for parcel delivery firm Evri.

Luke Jones, 31, of Kingsbridge, was among customers whose parcels were reported as delivered but never received. He said after posting on social media, he received messages from other people in the South Hams area who had all been sent pictures of parcels in front of the same white door.

An Evri spokesperson said: "Following an investigation, we can confirm that the driver in question will no longer be delivering on behalf of Evri."

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed it was investigating the theft of parcels and appealed for victims to come forward.

Jones reported his suspicions after receiving a notification from Evri saying his parcel had been delivered after midnight.

He said he did not recognise the location where the picture had been taken so put a post on social media asking if anyone had his parcel.

He was inundated by people in the South Hams area saying their parcels had also been reported as delivered but had not arrived. He said they had all received similar pictures of parcels in front of an unidentified white door.

An Evri spokesperson said action had been taken against one of its couriers.

"Following an investigation with our delivery partner in the area, we can confirm that the driver in question will no longer be delivering on behalf of Evri."

'Zero-tolerance policy'

They added: "We're committed to making sure every parcel is carefully looked after, and we apologise to local customers who have experienced any issues with their deliveries.

"We take fraudulent activity seriously and have a zero-tolerance policy towards behaviour of this kind.

"Following an investigation with our delivery partner in the area, we can confirm that the driver in question will no longer be delivering on behalf of Evri.

"The overwhelming majority of our couriers are highly regarded by customers, with an average star rating this year of 4.6 out of 5. Anyone still requiring help regarding their delivery can get in touch with our dedicated customer service team."

Devon and Cornwall police officers based in Kingsbridge confirmed they were investigating the missing parcels.

A spokesman said: "We have been notified following a number of reports of parcels due to be delivered by a courier being stolen in Kingsbridge, Loddiswell and the surrounding areas.

"Anybody who believes they may also have been victim of such a theft, who has not yet spoken to police, is asked to report it via 101 or the force website."
