A section of the A63 in East Yorkshire was closed earlier due to heavy flooding.

National Highways said the road was closed westbound between the A1166 and the A15, near Hessle.

A spokesperson for National Highways said the flooding had been caused by heavy rainfall overnight and efforts were under way to pump away surface water and to clear gulleys and drains ahead of further heavy rainfall expected later.

The westbound carriageway reopened at about 12:00 BST.

During the closure, traffic was diverted via local routes and motorists were advised to allow extra time for the journeys.
