Four men have been convicted of sexually abusing a teenage girl between 1994 and 2000.

Jagtar Sahota, 64, from Leeds, was jailed at Leeds Crown Court on Wednesday for 21 years for 11 counts of rape, 11 counts of indecent assault and one count of actual bodily harm. His offending was committed between 1997 and 2000, West Yorkshire Police said.

Zahid Hussain, 48, and Mohammed Chhibda, 49 - both from Dewsbury - were on Tuesday found guilty of indecent assault offences against the same woman between 1994 and 1997.

Basharat Wali, 46, also from Dewsbury, had earlier admitted two counts of indecent assault against the woman in the same time period. The three men will be sentenced on 4 June.

'Lifetime of destruction'

In a victim impact statement read during Sahota's trial, the woman said there were "no words for what this man has done to me".

The woman, who was targeted in Wakefield and Kirklees, said: "He took something from me that I can never get back and it's not just what he did in his moments of abuse - it's the lifetime of destruction that followed.

"The pain caused didn't end when he walked away. No. It lives with me every single day. It haunts me in ways I can't explain."

She said was "trying to find a way to heal, even if it's one broken piece at a time".

Det Ch Insp Rob Stevens said the woman had shown "enormous courage in coming forward to make these men answer for the huge and lasting damage they caused her".

"As her statement makes clear, the appalling abuse she suffered has taken a dreadful toll on her throughout her teenage and then adult life," he said.

"Thanks to her bravery though, these four men have now all been convicted, with one sentenced and receiving a substantial term in prison."
