Plans for 92 new homes approved
GooglePlans have been approved for more than 90 new homes in Wombourne.
Members of South Staffordshire Council's planning committee deferred their decision on the application for land off Pool House Road last month to request further information on public transport access for the site.
They voted to approve the plans on Tuesday despite concerns that new residents would have to walk at least 900 metres to the nearest bus stop.
Facilities were being upgraded to enable safe walking for future residents, a report to the committee stated.
The council received more than 30 objections to the application.
Wombourne resident Ian Hawkins spoke against the proposals at Tuesday's meeting, highlighting existing flooding issues in the area, adding that it would be "irresponsible" to approve them.
"The development is on a greenfield site, currently being used as farmland, whereas the principle of 'brownfield first' has been abandoned, leading to urban sprawl and the loss of green spaces to the Wombourne community," he said.
However, the planning committee approved the plans to develop 92 homes on the land at the meeting.
