Woman in hospital after being rescued from river
Nantwich PoliceA woman was taken to hospital after falling into a river in the early hours of the morning.
Emergency services, including fire service water rescue teams, were sent to the River Weaver at Waterlode, Nantwich, after 04:00 GMT on Sunday.
The casualty was out of the water and on the embankment when crews arrived, but was in a difficult to access area, because of trees and railings, said Cheshire Fire and Rescue.
Firefighters used a 9 metre ladder, throwlines, a reach pole and life jackets to help free the woman, who was then taken to hospital.
Waterlode was closed in both directions by police during the rescue operation, which involved fire crews from Nantwich, Chester, Congleton and Knutsford.
The woman was taken to Leighton Hospital in Crewe after her rescue by firefighters.
