Driver with life-threatening injuries after crash

A car driver sustained "serious, life-threatening injuries" after his vehicle crashed into a tree.

The accident happened outside stately home Castle Ashby House in Northamptonshire at about 20:30 GMT on Saturday.

Police said the driver of a black Volvo V40, a man in his 20s, was "in collision with a tree after leaving the road for unknown reasons", adding that no other vehicles were involved.

The driver was taken to University Hospital Coventry and officers from Northamptonshire Police are appealing for witnesses, or anyone with dashcam footage to get in touch.
