A lorry collided with several parked cars before crashing into a garden and demolishing a garage.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Sheffield Road in the Oxspring area of Barnsley earlier.

South Yorkshire Police said no serious injuries had been reported but the driver of the lorry had been taken to hospital as a precaution.

The road, between Roughbirchworth Lane and Bank View, was closed for investigations and had since reopened, the force said.

A spokesperson said the lorry was "understood to have collided with several parked cars and caused damage to a wall as well as an unoccupied property in the street."
