Appeal after money stolen in charity shop break-in

An appeal for information has been launched after a charity shop in Oadby was broken into.

It happened at the RSPCA Woodside shop in The Parade between 17:00 BST on Saturday and 09:30 on Sunday.

Money was taken during the break-in and the building was left needing repairs, the charity said.

A spokesperson for the shop, which raises money for the Woodside Animal Centre in Leicester, said: "As a self-funded charity, we now face the financial burden of repairing any damage and increasing our security measures to prevent future incidents."

Mary Lockhart, head of commercial trading at RSPCA Woodside, said: "It is deeply disheartening - and unacceptable - that someone would deliberately take resources intended for such an important cause."

Leicestershire Police has urged anyone with any information or CCTV footage to get in touch.
