Teenager describes witnessing her brother's death

The teenage sister of a 17-year-old boy from Surrey who was fatally stabbed at a party has spoken for the first time about witnessing his death.

Eloise Cosser, from Milford, Surrey, was 15 when her brother died two days after the party in Warnham, West Sussex, in July 2023.

Speaking in an ITV documentary to be broadcast later, she said: "I can't actually describe what it feels like to watch my brother die."

Ms Cosser, who is now 18, said she was "in such a state, crying hysterically" but she "did not want to leave Charlie's side in his last moments".

She added: "I put my head on his chest and was listening to his heartbeat for the last time.

"I looked up and I could see the colour draining from his face."

When she put her head back on his chest, she said she "realised his heart was no longer beating".

Charlie's parents, Martin and Tara Cosser, set up the charity Charlie's Promise following the death of their son, working to raise awareness of knife crime.

They met the King and prime minister at a summit in London in July.

Mr Cosser told BBC South East: "As a family it has been an incredibly hard two years.

"But we have achieved so much towards Charlie's legacy."

Speaking about the documentary, Mr Cosser said it was "really hard" to watch Eloise talking about her brother's death.

He said: "They were really close as a brother and sister and it's really hard to see her suffer.

"We as a family before Charlie's death just thought knife crime was an inner city thing.

"I don't want other families to go through what we have."
