Warning to plane spotters amid 'chaos' near RAF base
Getty ImagesPlane spotters based near a military airbase have been warned that "all policing options" are under review to minimise disruption caused by the enthusiasts.
Villagers who live close to RAF Fairford, in Gloucestershire near the Wiltshire border, have spoken of "chaos" as people gather to watch United States Air Force (USAF) bombers arrive and depart.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that for now they are not introducing road closures.
A force spokesperson said: "Whilst we understand that plane spotting is a hobby for many, it is worth noting that screening is now in place around the perimeter of the airfield so views are limited. As such we would urge enthusiasts to reconsider their attendance."
Protective screens have gone up around RAF Fairford to stop people from filming into the base.
Kirsty Payne who lives in Marston Meysey in Wiltshire said crowds of people were "clogging up the roads" and "causing chaos in the community".
Meanwhile, Phil Kerton, leader of neighbourhood watch in the village of Kempsford, said plane enthusiasts were parking wherever.

"However, we do not feel that this would be an appropriate step to take at this stage as it could result in further disruption to local residents and create dangerous conditions in surrounding roads should vehicles be left unattended.
"Work remains ongoing to ensure access roads and pavements remain clear and we will continue to review all tactical options and carry out regular patrols to support the local community," they added.
