Town's soap box derby race location revealed

Organisers of a go-kart race in Crewe have revealed the route of their race.

Krazy Races bosses also said they had sold out nearly all of the event’s 40 team spaces.

They have now confirmed karts will race along Ford Lane, Broad Street and finish near Badger Avenue.

Organisers expect thousands of people to attend the free-to-watch event when it takes place on 14 July.

There will be an "event village" at Brooklands with food traders, entertainment and a large screen.

Danny Scoffin, from Krazy Races, said: “Living in Crewe myself, I have been asked so many times since launching where the route will be.”

He added: “Our challenge is not only to find a great hill for racers but also to find a space big enough accommodate as many spectators as possible.

Crewe Town Council is supporting the event.

A spokesperson said: “After carrying out multiple site visits across the town with the team at Krazy Races it was clear to us that this would be the perfect location for the event with it being only a short walk from the town centre.”

Teams and spectators are encouraged to raise money for charity, and there will be a headline charity fundraiser on the day.
