Jason Donovan says new tour 'is the finale'

Australian singer and actor Jason Donovan says his latest run of shows will be "the finale" of his touring career.

The '80s star, known for his role in Neighbours and a string of UK chart hits, said the concerts offer fans their "last chance" to see him perform in this way.

Donovan, 57, will tour the UK with his Doing Fine Encore show, with dates in the South East including Folkestone in Kent. He is also set to reprise his role as Dr Frank‑N‑Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show when it returns to theatres, including in Eastbourne, later this year.

He said "nothing has changed except my age", adding that some previously cancelled dates prompted him to commit to a final run.

"Maybe there's a bit more acid reflux and arthritis," he joked.

Donovan became a household name in the late 1980s playing Scott Robertson in Neighbours, starring opposite Kylie Minogue.

He later enjoyed four UK Number 1 singles, including Any Dream Will Do from Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

On Neighbours, he added: "There was a great chemistry between the people working on it.

"Neighbours made people look at middle-class Australia and see a different life."

In his role as Dr Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, he said he "gets to be a rock star every night".

"It's the antithesis of what people know me for," he added.

His Doing Fine Encore tour includes a date in Folkestone on 6 March, while he will appear as Dr Frank‑N‑Furter at Eastbourne's Congress Theatre in May.
