Police have launched a murder investigation after a 50-year-old man was found dead in a city.

The emergency services were called to a property in Gladstone Street, Peterborough, at about 10:45 GMT after reports that a man was unconscious.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and investigations were ongoing, Cambridgeshire Police said.

Det Ch Insp Matt Inwood said: "We are keen to hear from anyone who may have any information relevant to this investigation."

"Our thoughts are with the man's family and friends at this time," he added.

Specialist crime officers remained at the scene, the force added.
