A puppy that was rescued after she was dumped on a canal towpath has spent Christmas with her foster family as she continues to recover.

Comet was one of three dachshunds found in a soaking cardboard box in Four Ashes, Wolverhampton, last Monday.

One puppy was already dead and another, Vixen, died after she and Comet were taken to Ravens Rescue UK near Dudley.

The charity previously said Comet was responding well to treatment and, in a Facebook post on Saturday, confirmed she was "still doing well".

"Her amazing foster family have gone above and beyond with their care for her and [on] Christmas Day, she enjoyed helping open up gifts (including one for her)," the post stated.

Sarah Price, from Ravens Rescue, previously said Vixen and Comet were treated for worms and given essential fluids and nourishment but Vixen "didn't make it".

She appealed for anyone who might know who dumped the puppies to come forward.

"Somebody surely knows them or if there are any more in the litter, or how mum is doing," she said.

"We need to find who did this and they need to face the consequences - they could have gone to any vet, somebody would have helped them."
