Three police officers were assaulted at York Christmas Market on Tuesday

A man is due to appear in court after three police officers were assaulted at York Christmas Market.

Officers attended on Tuesday after receiving reports that a man was "causing disorder" at the annual festive attraction in the city, North Yorkshire Police said.

Stuart Tether, 44, from York, has been charged with criminal damage, assaulting a police officer and two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.

He was remanded into custody and is due to appear at York Magistrates' Court later, the force added.
