Health board renews emergency department plea
Getty ImagesA health board has urged the public only to attend its emergency department for "life-threatening emergencies" for the second day in a row.
NHS Borders said on Monday it was "very busy" and repeated the message the 24 hours later.
It added that if people did need to go to the emergency department they may have to wait some time to be seen.
For all other health concerns, it advised the public to seek the "right care in the right place" - including NHS Inform for online advice for common symptoms and conditions.
In addition, the board said community pharmacies could help with minor illnesses.
NHS 24 is also available on 111 for a variety of issues including support with mental health distress or urgent care if your GP, pharmacy or dental practice is shut.
The health board thanked the public for its "understanding and co-operation" during its latest busy spell.
