Hereford FC has been left "desperate for a home game" after Storm Chandra forced yet another postponement.

The non-league club's cancelling of its home match against National League North opponents Marine on Tuesday means it has had to call off seven league matches have been called off because of the weather.

The team has played just 23 of their scheduled 46 fixtures, and it is now running out of time to fit them all in as the season ends in just 12 weeks time on 25 April.

"We're desperate for a game, desperate for a home game. Where we are in the league we need to try and get a run of games together and get a run of form going," General manager Jamie Griffiths said.

"It's crazy that we're halfway through the season really and it seems an age since we had a home games.

"It's just frustrating and I feel sorry for [the groundsman] because he's worked so hard."

Griffiths said the problems had been caused by a drainage issue which he said the club "could never have envisaged".

Despite the frustration, he said the last thing the club wanted was for any players to be hurt on the waterlogged pitch.

"We don't want our players getting injured," he said.

"We're going to be playing Saturday and Tuesday for the rest of the season now and the last thing we want is for any of our players to be out for any period of time."

Hereford FC are currently eight points off safety and are sat in 23rd place.

The club's next scheduled fixture is at home against promotion-chasing Fylde and is due to kick off on Saturday.
