A new exhibition is set to celebrate 25 years since the first modern Minis rolled off the production line.

The collection of eight Minis from across the years will be displayed in Templars Square Shopping Centre, in Cowley, from Sunday.

Among the collection is a 2001 Mini Cooper, which was one of the first of its kind produced at Oxford's Mini Plant a quarter of a century ago.

The exhibition has been organised by local resident and car enthusiast Tanya Field, who said it was "wonderful to be celebrating 25 years of the modern Mini".

"Minis are truly iconic and hold a special place in the hearts of many people, particularly within the communities surrounding the Mini factory," she added.

Alongside the 2001 Cooper, the exhibition will also feature a 2026 Mini Convertible and a Clubman - both of which have been provided by the factory, in Cowley.

The plant's director, Markus Grüneisl, said: "Marking 25 years of modern Mini production makes it especially meaningful, and it's wonderful to share that milestone with the wider community.

"It's great to celebrate our heritage with the people who've shaped it over the years."

Minis have been produced at Plant Oxford - which first opened 114 years ago - since 1959, with BMW taking over the brand and the factory in the 1990s.

Alongside newer models, the exhibition also features cars produced before 2001 - including a 1963 Morris Mini, a 1970 Mini 1275GT and a Mini Van.

It runs at Templars Square from Sunday until 21 February, from 10:00 - 16:00 GMT on Sunday, and 08:00 - 18:00 Monday to Saturday.
