A Cornish speed bump has been raised following complaints from local councillors.

The tabletop speed hump in Heamoor, near Penzance, was dubbed "useless" and a "speed pimple" after it was left part-finished due to rising costs of the works - with no top layer.

The decision was reversed and extra road surfacing added overnight on Tuesday, after complaints from Cornwall Councillor Juliet Line and Madron Parish Council chairman Hugh Eddy.

Line, who represents Madron and Heamoor, said the extra surfacing had given the speed bump "more oomph", adding: "I went to test it out on my way home from County Hall this evening - I think they've nailed it."

Cornwall Council member Dan Rogerson, the council cabinet's transport portfolio holder, said he was "pleased" highways staff had resolved the issue quickly.

He said the junction - at Madron Road and Joseph's Lane - had been "the site of a number of accidents, including one serious one in 2022".

"We had to make sure it served its intended purpose, which was to slow the traffic at the junction," he added.
