Butcher Mohamed Moustafa has been jailed for 42 months

Two butchers have been sentenced after attacking two men outside their shop in Peterborough.

Police said the victims had been trying to retrieve a phone stolen by Mohamed Moustafa, 27, when he attacked them with a knife alongside his colleague Adham Mustafa, 19, outside Elfaseh Halal Meat in Gladstone Street in September.

Both men were convicted of affray and threatening a person with a bladed article at Cambridge Crown Court earlier this year. Moustafa was also found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm without intent and theft.

On Friday, Moustafa, of Huntley Grove in the city, was sentenced to 42 months in prison while Mustafa, of Lincoln Road, received a 19‑month suspended sentence.

The attack took place at about 15:00 BST on Tuesday, 16 September.

According to Cambridgeshire Police, one of the victims, a 26-year-old, had to be treated in hospital after injuries to his ear.

The other man, 28, suffered a cut to his shoulder.

Det Sgt Sam Moorby said: "The defendants responded with completely disproportionate violence which has left the victims suffering not only physically, but also emotionally and mentally."
