Funds for a day's hospice care raised by 10K run

A newly-named sporting event has raised enough to pay for a day's care in a hospice.

The Hospice 10K organised by Jersey Hospice Care on 31 August raised more than £12,000.

For the past 16 years the event had been called the Jayson Lee 10k Memorial Run and run by the Lee family in memory of Mr Lee after he died playing football.

The charity thanked the runners and sponsors for their support and said the team was especially grateful to the Lee family "for trusting us with the event and carrying on Jayson's legacy".

"The rain held off and together you raised over £12,000, which could pay for a day's care on our in patient unit which is just incredible," the charity spokesperson added.

They said next year's Hospice 10K was being planned to take place on Sunday 23 August.
