A teenage girl suffered minor injuries after falling out of the back of an ambulance on a Lancashire motorway.

The patient "exited the moving vehicle" on the southbound slip road between the M6 and M55 motorways outside Preston.

The motorway was closed for a short period after the incident at 17:17 GMT on Tuesday.

North West Ambulance Service said no other injuries were reported and the girl was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.

A spokesperson said: "We are working with Lancashire Police and wish the patient a speedy recovery."
