A "psychic" who claimed he appeared on TV several times has admitted sexually assaulting two women.

John Starkey, who claimed he had been featured on TV shows including This Morning and the Paul O'Grady Show, admitted a charge of assault on a female 13 or over with penetration between April and October 2018 and two counts of sexual assault on a female by touching in December 2018 and October 2022.

In one case, he assaulted one of his victims while she was on holiday in Wales and offered her a naked massage, police said.

The 74-year-old was released on bail ahead of sentencing on 30 April and placed on the sex offenders' register.

His first victim told the court she was sexually assaulted in October 2018 in Wolverhampton and then again in London later the same year, police said.

In the latter case, she said she was lured by Starkey to a hotel room after he lied and said other of his clients would be there as well for a meeting.

Then in October 2022, the second woman said she was on holiday in Llandudno when she went into a shop where the 74-year-old was working

She wanted a consultation and told police Starkey sexually assaulted her and offered he a naked massage.

He initially pleaded not guilty but changed his plea after a jury was sworn in for a trial at Mold Crown Court in Wales.

The hearing was adjourned and Judge Rhys Rowlands told Starkey to expect a custodial sentence.

Starkey, who lives on Rhodfa'r Grug, Upper Colwyn Bay, is known for providing clairvoyant readings and claims to have more than 40 years of experience.

On his website, the defendant described himself as Wolverhampton-based, offering home visits in the West Midlands, London and on the north Wales coast.
