Firefighters have extinguished a blaze in a flat above a bakery in Leicester.

Crews were called to Clarendon Park Road on Wednesday morning and "worked quickly and aggressively" to extinguish the fire and stop it spreading to nearby properties.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed at about 09:45 GMT that the fire was extinguished.

A spokesperson added: "All persons were accounted for and there were no casualties."

Motorists were advised to expect delays as the fire was dealt with by crews, but the road has now reopened.
