Charity fundraising runner has mobile home stolen
Mike HumphreysA charity fundraiser is appealing for help after the van and the equipment he uses for his challenges was stolen.
Mike Humphreys, from Hedon, East Yorkshire, was set to travel to South America to run the 4,700 miles (7,600km) length of the continent to raise money for motor neurone disease (MND) research.
However, the vehicle and all his running equipment was taken a few weeks ago.
Mr Humphreys told BBC Radio Humberside the theft had "really set me back".
He said he was looking for businesses to help him replace the van and the equipment.
"We need a specially converted camper van and also everything in my van was stolen," he said.
"So, all my running kit, everything I had for this challenge was taken, all my possessions."
Mike HumphreysMr Humphreys started his fundraising after losing friend Carl Giblin to MND in 2013 and having another friend diagnosed with the condition in 2023.
Previous challenges have included riding a Raleigh Chopper bike from Hull to the highest ski resort in the French Alps and running 30 marathons in 30 days across Europe.
The personal trainer described the South American event as a "huge task", which could take up to 250 days.
He said he hoped to start the challenge in the new year.
