Parking along a section of West Quay has been suspended until March

Parking on a section of the quayside in northern town on the Isle of Man is set to be suspended for two and a half months for demolition works to be carried out.

West Quay in Ramsey will see parking suspended on both sides from 06:00 GMT on Monday until 18:00 on 29 March while work is carried out in two phases.

Two-way traffic initially would be maintained, but some footpaths in the area would be closed during the first phase.

The second phase of the project would see temporary traffic lights in place along the section of quayside where single-file traffic operated.

The measures are in place to allow for the demolition of the the buildings at 24 Parliament Street and 6 West Quay, which formerly housed The Tide and Jewel Box respectively.

It follows the emergency demolition of the neighbouring Auldyn House, at 22 Parliament Street, for safety reasons in 2021.

Planning permission was previously granted in 2023 for the redevelop both plots into a four storey apartment building along with retail space on the ground floor.
