A driver has been arrested after a pedestrian was hit by a van.

Hertfordshire Police said a blue Vauxhall Vivaro was traveling along Old North Road in Royston, between 22:30 and 23:10 GMT on Friday, when it collided with a man, 27.

He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The arrested man, 29, from Royston, remained in police custody on Saturday.

Det Insp Jon Leak appealed for anyone who saw the crash or what led to it, or had dashcam footage, to get in touch.
