"None of us are going to survive if we don't keep shouting about what we offer and how good we are," says the pub landlady turned content creator who is supporting the independent businesses in her village.

Maria Harris, runs the Stag in Lyndhurst, Hampshire, and is celebrating her fifth Christmas at the pub.

Over the festive period she shared photos and videos of the local shops in the New Forest village on social media to try and raise their profile in what she calls a "shocking" time for businesses.

"High streets are struggling so we're always trying to do stuff a bit different, so it puts Lyndhurst on the map," she says.

"People haven't got money, their habits and finances have changed."

Ms Harris says she is is passionate about protecting local high streets, particularly for the "aging population" who need easy access to facilities.

"I don't know how they'd get what they need if they haven't got it on the doorstep," she says.

Her posts have ranged from photographs highlighting some of the Christmas decorations in the shop windows to videos of the local butchers having a dance-off.

"We're all little independents so if we can shout about how great we are as a high street and it will bring some business in," she says.

"Anything we can do to get us on the map helps."
