No action was taken after the whistleblowing investigation into Mark Fisher

A whistleblowing investigation into the boss of one of the largest NHS integrated care boards has ended and found no need for further action.

Though now able to return to work, Fisher will leave after previously confirming he planned to retire at the end of March, a NHS spokeswoman said.

Colin Scales will continue to run the board as acting chief executive while efforts are under way to appoint a successor.

Fisher has been in charge of the integrated care board (ICB), which makes decisions on how health services in Greater Manchester are commissioned and funded, since its inception in 2022.

A spokesman for the ICB said: "The organisation remains focused on maintaining stability, supporting staff, and continuing to improve outcomes for people and communities across Greater Manchester.

"We thank Mark for his significant contribution to the NHS in Greater Manchester and wish him well for the future."
