An "adorable" but boisterous piglet that can sit, twirl and go for a walk on a lead is settling into an animal sanctuary after he outgrew his old home.

Percy, a miniature black-and-white Juliana cross, is the latest resident at Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary in Ramsbottom, Lancashire.

The centre is looking for people to sponsor Percy and help pay for the five-month-old's care.

"He's so sweet and he loves to do 'zoomies' and then jump in the air," said Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary manager Karen Weed.

Juliana pigs, which usually grow to be about 45cm (18ins) tall, are often kept as pets and companion animals.

Despite their cute appearance, even small pigs tend to be quite strong and boisterous.

"It's a common reason we get pigs in," she explained.

Percy, who arrived in December, is said to be very friendly and has six outfits to help keep him warm.

He started life as a litter-trained house pet but is "now learning to be a pig", Weed said.

The centre, which is not looking to rehome Percy, hopes he will "make friends" with Boris, one of their other seven pigs.

Percy's care which will cost "a couple of thousand pounds" a year, said Weed.

"Obviously our running costs are going up massively and we've got 250 animals on the site, so donations are what keeps us going," she added.

"Percy will melt your heart - he's so funny."
