A 13-year-old boy has been arrested after an e-bike rider hit a pregnant woman, who then gave birth to a seriously ill baby.

The pedestrian was struck in Herbert Avenue, Poole, on 26 January.

Dorset Police previously said the rider and a pillion passenger left the scene, leaving the woman with injuries that were not serious.

However, the baby remains in a serious condition in hospital, detectives said.

The woman, aged in her 30s, was hit at about 15:50 GMT near the junction with Manor Avenue, police previously reported.

A 13-year-old boy from Poole has been arrested on suspicion of a driving offence and remains in police custody.

Sgt Dan Yates said: "I would like to thank the public who came forward and provided information to help with our investigation.

"We are still appealing for anyone with information in relation to this incident, who has not already spoken to police, to please get in touch."
