First look at airport redevelopment design images
Ports of JerseyThe first images showing the internal design for a new departure lounge at Jersey Airport have been released.
Ports of Jersey (POJ) shared the pictures ahead of the first phase of redevelopment opening in summer 2026.
The whole departure lounge is expected to be open by summer 2027, POJ said.
Lee Madden, president of Jersey Chamber of Commerce said stakeholders wanted to "create an airport that's generational and that's going to be used for the future".
Ports of JerseyMatt Thomas, POJ chief executive said: "The airport's 30 years old now, so it's quite tired and there's a lot of critical infrastructure that needs to be invested in, like the heating, the air con, the power.
"More importantly than that, we want the airport to be that amazing first and last impression of the island.
"We've invested more than £150 million over the last 10 years.
"A lot of it is resurfacing runways, in the new security equipment - so this isn't 'instead of', this is 'as well as' investment".
POJ said the new design would be fresh, modern and "inspired by the island's coastline, countryside, and architecture."
It said the design process had been guided by public feedback, community meetings, and passenger insights gathered over the past year.
Features of the new departures lounge will include a family area, an assisted travel lounge, sensory room, first aid room, multi-faith room, work areas and access to genuine Jersey shopping, food and beverage outlets.
Ports of JerseySpeaking off the back of a turbulent week for the Channel Islands air industry after the liquidation of Blue Islands, Mr Madden said: "I think it's so important to look at what's happened, but more importantly, look to the future, see what's coming ahead of us and plan for that.
"If we keep on harking back the past, we're going to stay in the past, let's get things done, let's get moving and let's get this beautiful airport redeveloped into the star that it can be.
"We want to create something that's good, that's memorable and where business people and travellers alike go back saying Jersey was brilliant, the airport was fantastic, make it a destination airport."
