City centre redevelopment scheme to get under way
City of Wolverhampton CouncilA major city centre redevelopment project to deliver hundreds of new homes is set to get under way.
The first phase of Wolverhampton's Smithgate development will see new homes, retail and public space around Market Square.
It will ultimately form part of a 12-acre redevelopment made up of 1,000 homes plus retail, leisure and commercial space, according to the city council.
The relocation of a compound used for project management will, the council adds, "kick start" the first phase of the scheme, with developer ECF addressing the project's Bicycle Works component - set to feature 331 new homes by the end of 2027.
