Arrest after pedestrian seriously injured in crash

A man has been arrested after a pedestrian was seriously hurt in a crash.

Northamptonshire Police said it was called to Barrack Road in Northampton at about 20:40 GMT on Wednesday following reports that a black Mercedes Benz had struck a woman.

The pedestrian, in her 40s, was taken to University Hospital Coventry with serious injuries. Police said a 29-year-old man was being questioned in custody.

Officers have asked that anyone with information about the collision gets in touch.
