Fire at chip shop a week after award win
Jonathan HallFirefighters were called to an award-winning chip shop in Castle Douglas after reports of a fire.
Three appliances were sent to Moore's on King Street around 07:00.
A spokesperson for Scottish Fire and Rescue Centre said: "Firefighters worked to extinguish a fire affecting an electrical unit within a commercial property.
"There were no reported casualties and crews currently remain at the scene checking for hotspots."
In a social media post, Moore's thanked the fire brigade for their "quick response" and said the shop will be closed until further notice.
They added they would keep customers posted once they had been in to "assess the damage."
Last week the shop was named among the top 50 fish and chip shop takeaways in the UK by the National Federation of Fish Friers' Fry Awards.
