Five taken to hospital following arson attack

The incident occurred at a property on Creston Avenue in Finglas

Five people have been taken to hospital after an arson attack on a house in north Dublin.

The incident took place at a property on Creston Avenue, Finglas at around 12:45 local time on Wednesday.

A woman and a teenage boy suffered serious injuries as a result of the blaze.

Gardaí (Irish police) and emergency services were on the scene to extinguish the fire.

The scene at the home has been preserved for a technical examination

All five people in the house were taken to hospital.

This included a woman in her 40s, a woman in her 20s and three teenagers, two female and one male.

The injuries to the woman in her 40s and male teenager are serious, Gardaí said.

The injuries to the three other people are described as non-life-threatening.

The individuals were brought to James Connolly Memorial and Temple Street Children's hospitals.

The scene at the home has been preserved for a technical examination.

Gardaí have issued an appeal to anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or noticed anything suspicious in the Creston area between midnight and 01:00 local time on Wednesday morning to contact them.

The force is also appealing for people to get in touch if they have any footage, such as CCTV and dash cam from the area between those times.
