Teenager in 'serious' condition after crash

The car crashed into a telegraph pole on Seamer Road

A 16-year-old boy is in a serious condition and a 17-year-old boy has been arrested after a crash near Scarborough.

A red Citroen C1 collided with a telegraph pole shortly after midnight on Seamer Road, near the Hyundai showroom, according to North Yorkshire Police.

The 17-year-old is being held in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of driving offences. The 16-year-old passenger remains in hospital.

The road was closed until about 07:00 GMT but has now reopened.

Police urged any witnesses and or anyone with dashcam footage to contact them.
